Sharp LC70LE650U Review

I purchased this to replace a 50" plasma. i was looking at the 640 but saw the 650 had just been released. The picture is exceptional, the smart functions are robust and the initial setup was simple. So far, I am very impressed. When watching sports during the last few days, I almost thought I had a front row seat.

The TV arrived when it was scheduled, it was in perfect condition and the delivery guys were very pleasant and friendly. At first I was somewhat disappointed by what I will call " motion artifacts", with the picture looking as if everything had been filmed with a handheld camera. I am familiar with the Soap Opera Affect, but this was somewhat different than that.

However, since I had connected Sharp LC70LE650U with a Cat 5 to my network when I set it up, it immediately told me that a software update was available. I somewhat reluctantly clicked "OK" and the update downloaded quickly and was applied flawlessly. And after some additional adjustments the picture is great!

As with any high quality HDTV, the picture is only as good as the source material, so with both cable and streaming sources the picture quality varies a bit from program to program. I am looking into having it professionally calibrated, as I think that will make it even better. I will post an update if and when I get that done.
